Alice L. Norris Benson
Alice, age 91, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021.
She was born on January 26, 1930 in Richardson Park, DE, the daughter of the late Donald and Alda Norris. Alice attended Richardson Park School and graduated from Conrad High School in 1948. She then married classmate George "Barney" Benson who she was happily married to for 64 years. They lived in Waco, Texas while George was in the Air Force. Alice was chosen as grandmother of the year for the state of Delaware in 1995. She taught kindergarten for 25 years with her sister, Marjorie Faux and was a lifetime active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church.
Alice was predeceased by her husband, George; her son, Ron; her sister Marge; and brothers, Ray Norris and Ben Norris. She is survived by her sons, Bob (Kathy) and Rick (Susan); brother; Fred Norris (Jan); grandchildren, Matt, Erin, Laura, Tim, Brooke, Ashley, Richard, AJ, Jeremy, Luke and Christina; great grandchildren, Zane, Tom, Jordan, Sierra, Ryan, Jessica, Jack, Sam, Jett, Ben, Kynlee, Merrick, Remi, Bowen and Reagan and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday, February 20 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804. Masks and social distancing will be required. Funeral services will be private due to a capacity limit in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Alice's memory to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 701 S. Maryland Ave., Wilmington, DE 19804.
