Angelica T. “Angel” Tenaglia, age 59, of Delaware City, formerly of New Castle, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at home surrounded by family.

Angel was a 1980 graduate of William Penn / Hodgson Vo-Tech High Schools and attended St. Peter’s Grade School. She became a certified cosmetologist at the Delaware Beauty School but dedicated her life to her 30 year career as a Behavioral Health Technician at the Delaware State Hospital, Growth Horizons and Benefit Coordinator at The Rockford Center, as well as being a patient advocate.

Angel was known for her beautiful, giving and caring spirit and would help anyone in need. She enjoyed her bible studies, painting ceramics, drawing, reading, writing, and activities at the Middletown Senior Center.
She loved spending time with her family, her lifelong friends and most especially with her grandchildren.

Angel was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ruth Ann Tenaglia.

Survivors include her daughters - Dina Gregg (Kalin) and Mellissa Tenaglia (William Sr); her brother - Duane Payton (Tammi); her sisters - Lisa Tenaglia-Evans and Antoinette Fazio (Vincent); her grandchildren - William Jr and Lucianna; her nephews - Joshua, Michael, Brandon, Eric, Paul, Matthew and Nicholas; grandpups Blu and Chica and her trusted companion, Sparkle.

The family would like to thank all of Angel’s closest friends for the time they spent with her in prayer, through laughter and tears and the hours of ‘fun facts.’ Angel fought so hard to recover from each hurdle thrown her way and walked to the Lord with her Parents and Godparents.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, April 3 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 11 am. Masks and social distancing will be required along with a capacity limit in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Angel’s memory may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105

My Mommy is my HERO! DEE DEE BOO BEAR & I were so very lucky to have been blessed with such a AMAZING MOM! I have learned so much in these past 9 months, about my mother and how TRUELY STRONG she really was and How important family is! Her legacy will live on through my children, William Jr. ( Her BUG BUG) & Luciana( her VOO DOO DOLL). I will cherish every piece of advice, every lesson, every lecture, and every argument we ever had together!😢 I am so lost my dear Mommy! I know it was only selfish for me to ask the Lord to keep you here any longer. You are no longer in pain, you now swore high with the Angel's where you now belong!👼 I will always cherish my family as you taught me. I love you, we were 2 peas in pod! Until we meet again, Hugs and kisses! I love you MaMa!🥰💋💜

While I didn't know Angel personally, I had the pleasure of knowing her through her loved ones who blessed me with some of her funniest stories and most cherished moments to which I'm thankful.
Please know that in this hour, I share in your sorrow and I truly hope the prayers of all people who love you bring solace to your hearts and souls.

With love and friendship,
-Leslie H.

My sister Angel is now home with our Lord
I don’t know if she realized how much she’s adored
Her smile, her heart and ability to love
Was greater than anyone’s here or above
I was her ‘little sis’ and she my protector
I hope she knows now how much I respect her
The strength she had was like none I’ve known
I looked up to her until I was grown
The pain, hurt and loss is deep and so real
Near the end we reconciled all that we feel
I will miss you my sister my beautiful friend
Look over us all until we meet again
