Obituary for Clark G. Shaffer

Clark G. Shaffer, age 67, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022 at Accent Care Hospice (Christiana Hospital).

Clark was a 1972 graduate from Dickinson High School, where he went on to complete one year at the University of Delaware’s Agriculture school. Following a machinist apprenticeship at Glaser Bros., he earned an Associate of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delaware Technical Community College in 1986.

He was previously employed by Dupont (Kennett Square, PA) in 1977. In 1991, Clark started working at TA Instruments and after 37 years of numerous achievements as a Mechanical Engineer, he retired in April 2014.

At his leisure, Clark had many activities that he enjoyed. For many summers, time was spent at the family summer home in the Poconos where he would ride his motorcycle, go hiking, swimming, and antiquing. He also spent a lot of time playing golf with his father at the former Cavalier’s Country Club in Wilmington, DE.

His engineering skills weren’t limited to just his workplace. Those skills varied in complexity and ranged from drafting his own plans for large home addition to simply fixing jewelry. He also loved his three dogs (2 Dobermans and 1 Cane Corso) as well as his fully restored 1970 Chevelle SS 396.

Clark is the son of the late G. Clark Shaffer and survived by his mother, Barbara. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his former spouse, Bonnie Shaffer, two daughters, Sarah Shaffer and Emily Golder (Chris) and three grandchildren, Madison Prange and Logan and Wyatt Golder.

At his request, there will be no service or memorial.
