Obituary for Deborah Ann Pope

Deborah (Debbie) Ann Pope left this world on July 14, 2022 and into the hands of God, our father. Debbie was born at Edwards Air Force Base, California on October 10, 1960 to Marguerite and David L. Dempsey. Her father was stationed there and when his USAF assignment was over, the family relocated to Wilmington, Delaware while her father completed his Air Force career at the former Hanover AFB, Massachusetts. Wilmington became her permanent home. She attended Sacred Heart and St. Elizabeth’s Catholic elementary schools eventually transferred to Marguerite Burnett Middle School. Debbie graduated from Brandywine High School.

She held various jobs over the years. Married Lance Pope (later divorced) but together they had two sons, Damien and Marc.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Lance Pope and her son Damien.

She is survived by her son, Marc, Leah Halton-Pope, her grandchildren, Moriah, MJ, Darrien, Layla and their mothers, Beth Thompson, Cresinda Pope; her brother, David, wife, Debra, her nieces and nephew (Nakia, Elisabeth and David), her dear cousin, Lisa Washington-Spence, husband Jacob Spence also, Keysha Johnson.

Debbie through all of the challenges she faced in living, greatly enjoyed life, her family (especially her grandchildren), many good friends, including her beloved “sisters”, Cynthia, Joanne and Spring; Kenny Jackson and all who she encountered.

She left this world too soon but she is no longer in pain. Debbie will be greatly miss by her family and friends.
