Obituary for Elizabeth M. Wagner

Elizabeth M. Wagner, born in Reading, PA, 1929, passed peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022. Now reunited in Heaven with her parents, brother, nephew and various family members, her delightful smile and warm, loving personality live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Betty will be missed by her nieces, 13 great nephews and nieces, and 2 great, great nephew and niece as well as cousins and friends.

Betty, part of a small, tight-knit, loving family, moved to Delaware from Reading when she was in elementary school. A musical/dance family, Betty excelled in classical dance from a young age. While her brother participated in the school band, Betty was the school drum majorette.

After graduating from high school, Betty began a professional career based out of New York City. Featured in her own variety show, she performed in Canada, Las Vegas, and New York City, to mention a few exciting cities.

Betty returned to Delaware, married, and began a life-long career with the DuPont company. During the course of her career, she served as Executive Secretary to several top-level executives. Betty enjoyed traveling through most of the states in America. International travel included England, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Canada. Betty enjoyed square dancing as well. She spent many fun years with local square dance and round dance clubs.

Hospitality and caring for people were natural gifts for Betty. Although she had no natural children, Betty loved many children as her own. Her house was always open and welcoming. Even in later years, Betty’s feet were always quick to rattle off a “shuffle” step and tap routine. Betty enjoyed the friendships she developed in her church women’s group. Her memory will live long in the hearts and memories of friends and family.

Services will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Catalyst Community Church, 410 Denver Road, Wilmington, DE 19804. Viewing will begin at 10:30 AM followed by a service at 11:30 AM. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall starting at 12:30 PM.

Contributions can be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 111 Continental Drive, Suite 407, Newark, DE 19713.

A debt of gratitude is owed to her private and Compassionate Care caregivers: Robyn, Elaine, Jennifer, Kim, Chaplain Pastor Bob, Latonya and Katelyn.
