Obituary for Fernando M Simoes

Fernando M Simoes, Age 65 of Bear, DE passed away unexpectedly, while doing what he loved most alongside one of his best friends, on October 15, 2020. Fernando was born in Lisbon, Portugal on June 14, 1955.

Fernando moved to the US in 1979. He worked many years as a Produce Manager for Shoprite, but his true passions were hunting, fishing and his many friends, both in the US and in Portugal. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. He adored watching soccer, which he always referred to as the real football. He had a passionate love of life that most people rarely experience.

Fernando retired in 2017, after beating cancer twice, and went into retirement with the gusto for life that was special to him. Besides hunting and fishing, he enjoyed gardening and most of all spending time working on his property downstate. He loved anything to do with nature and the great outdoors.

Fernando met many people throughout his life and developed an abundance of true friends while pursuing his varied interests. His laughter was infectious and his sense of humor unique. He loved people and life and he was truly loved back. He will be sorely missed by all his friends and family.

Fernando is survived by his wife, Karen Dagle, his two sons, Pedro de Almeida (Stephanie) and Sean Simoes (Brittnay), his step daughter-in-law Katie, and eight (8) grandchildren, Dante, Karmyn, Eli, Michael, Dominic, Sawyer, Sienna and Wesson.

Fernando was preceded in death by his father, Manuel, his mother, Gabriela, and his step son, Evan.

A celebration of Fernando's life will be held at Lums Pond State Park on November 1, 2020 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Area 4 pavilion. Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing will be required.
