Can't believe it's been a year this week. Time never stops, and we never stop missing you and Mom-Mom.

Who you were is a testament to everything a Grandpop should be.
No matter how old we got, you were always genuinely interested what was going on in our lives. Whether it was an upcoming test in high school, or a system upgrade at work, you always made sure to be specific when you asked how things were going.
As children, if we wanted to walk to 7-11 in the middle of an August afternoon, you would stop what you were doing (and you were always doing something) and go with us. If we wanted to go to the firehouse, off we went (Of course, because that was your second home!).
You were always ready with a good joke.
You liked things like The Three Stooges and Barney Rubble.
You taught us how to be unapologetic about who we are, and that it’s okay to speak our minds, even if it’s not going to be a popular opinion.
Being sharp as a tack at ninety years old and picking up how to text and use a tablet showed us that learning is possible at any age. One of the last things you said to me was “I need to get back to my books.” How I wish you had been able to do that.
So thank you for almost forty years of being the best Pop-Pop one could ask for, and thank you for instilling your legacy in us. I will miss you terribly, but I take comfort in knowing that as we move into the future, you are always watching, and that someday we will see you again.
Love you!
Carrie

Tommy and David, your dad was a wonderful neighbor back in the day when "the village" helped raised children. We were lucky to have been able to share growing up with kids whose parents cared as much as ours did. I am so sorry for your loss and am praying for peace as you navigate through this loss.

Dear Mrs. Shewbrooks, Tom, David and the entire Shewbrooks family. I am so very sorry to hear about your Fred's passing. I was out of town and just heard the news. Fred was always a great guy. He was always willing to help anyone out. He and Tom were very instrumental in our Captain Nonesuch program that Tom hosted for years. Everyone who knew Fred, knew his heart and soul was helping others. May he Rest in Peace.
