Obituary for Henry Marrero

Henry Marrero, age 94, of Middletown, formerly of Philadelphia and New York, NY., transitioned on Saturday, December 17, 2022.

Henry joined the United States Navy at age 17 serving on the USS Wisconsin and Ship President Jackson. He then changed to the Seabees serving in French Morocco where he became a 3rd class Petty Officer.

He worked as a mail carrier in Philadelphia for 17 years before he retired in 1975. He also worked at Al’s Deli in Philadelphia.

Henry was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Middletown. He was a member of the USS Wisconsin Association, the Seabeas Veteran Association, American Legion #25, and St. Agnes orphanage, which is ran by Dominican nuns in Sparkhill, NY.

Henry enjoyed hunting, target shooting, listening to Big Band music, dancing and was an avid newspaper reader. He was also an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Janie Marrero and his grandson Darrell Marrero.

Henry is survived by his wife of 33 years, Helena; children, Ricarldo (Patricia), Lolita Marrero and Edward McNamee (Amy); grandchildren, Ricarldo Jr., Adria Hayes (Hakim), Haley Simpson, Skye McNamee; great grandson Nazim Bailey and many family and friends.

Committal services with Military Honors will be held at 10 AM on Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road Bear, DE 19701.
