James Michael McClafferty

Wilmington - James Michael McClafferty, age 67, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021, after a courageous battle with kidney disease.

Jim was a good hearted, brave soul who was loved by all and loved all who met him. He was the love of his wife's life, and will always be in her heart. Jim was a 1973 graduate of Delcastle High School. His career was in law enforcement service. Jim had worked in security at Riverside Hospital where he met his wife. Jim worked at MeadowWood Hospital as chief security before working at MBNA in security. Jim had worked for many years at Lackawanna Security.

He was a member of the Newark Coin Club and enjoyed collecting coins, road champs and police patches. Jim was a seafood lover and enjoyed many meals with all his family at Kathy's Crab house (thanks to staff Amy and Kathy) in Delaware City. Jim's favorite sayings were "The best part of the day and :"I'm not ready yet"

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Erma McClafferty, and his father in-law William A. Braddock who passed on January 21, 2021, who Jim loved dearly.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 33 years, Debbie McClafferty; his siblings, Joanne Creasey, Joyce Brant (Gary) and Johnny McClafferty; his sisters in law, Barbara Baxter (Edward), Carol Redding (Robert Jr.) and Janice Savage (Rich) and his beloved nieces, great nieces and nephews and great nephews.

Funeral Services will be 12 noon on Wednesday, March 31 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 11 am. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Masks and social distancing will be required along with a capacity limit.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fresenius Medical Care Dialysis Centers that took such loving care of him through his brave and his never complaining treatments. Jim always thanked the staff as he was leaving and always spoke to all the patients.
