Obituary for John Austin Barnes
John “Johnny” Austin Barnes, was called home to God on September 10, 2022, at 2:28 pm at age 59.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 3, 1963, at 5:31 pm. John was a loving son of the late Charles T. Barnes, Sr., and Rosemary (Smith) Hitchner.
John was a proud, dedicated & adoring father to his two daughters. John always tried to bring God into his family’s life. He was a spiritual, down to earth genuine individual.
John worked in the shipyard in Newport News, VA, obtained his GED & graduated as a certified nursing assistant. He continued a career as a security guard before he retired.
He enjoyed playing games & teaching his daughters magic tricks. He loved spending hours decorating for the holidays, or waking up at the crack of dawn to prepare for a yard sale. John adored all kinds of animals & music, & he instilled that passion in both of his girls. John will remain loved and dearly missed by his family & friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles T Barnes Sr.; and his brothers Gene M. Barnes and Robert A. Barnes.
John is survived by his caring mother, Rosemary L. (Smith) Hitchner, his 2 loving daughters, Shannon G. Barnes and Brianna E. Barnes; Mother of his daughters, Lorraine G. Barnes; his caring niece Loni Hux. 2 nephews; Robert Barnes Jr. and Daniel Barnes. 2 great nephews; Izzy and Dalton; and a great niece; Alona.
