Obituary for John W. Shaffer
John Webster Shaffer, Jr, 68, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 30th, 2022.
John was born in Silver Spring, MD and later resided in many states throughout his lifetime. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and a recipient of a National Defense Service Medal. John graduated from Lamar University of Texas with his Bachelor's of science in electronic engineering. He later worked for multiple companies including Crest Ultrasonics, Physical Acoustics, Mistras Group Inc., Dupont, and Armstrong. John retired in 2017.
John loved rock music, playing guitar, cooking, watching movies, dogs, and repairing electronics. He was an avid fan of action and sci fi movies. Prior to her passing, he enjoyed spending time with his dog Lana and later enjoyed spending time with his grand dog "Luka". In his free time he ran his own repair business for musical equipment and computers. He always talked about how he loved his clients and they loved his quality of work. John always put his family first, which is why it was a blessing that he could make more income doing thing's that he loved. John's exceptional talent for repairs was well known and ahead of it's time. His family is very proud of the man he was and they are thankful for every minute that they had with him.
Predeceased by his parents Frances Graeselle Mercer and John Webster Shaffer. John is survived by his partner for 36 years Bonnie, their son Steven, his grand dog "Luka", his stepdaughter Sharlene, her daughter Brittany, and his stepdaughter Crystal, her husband John, and their children Ryan and Emilia.
