Obituary for Joseph G. Bensinger
Joseph G. Bensinger, age 74, of Rising Sun, formerly of Newark and Elkton, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021.
Joe attended Newark High School and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Goldey-Beacom College. He was a Navy Veteran where he served as a Petty Officer Second Class and worked on submarines and ships as a carpenter. Joe worked for over 30 years before retiring at Craft-way Kitchens. He enjoyed antique cars, hot rods and Harleys. He enjoyed traveling to Car Shows with longtime friends Larry and April Stevens. Joe loved spending his time with his family and pets. He was also a member of NSRA- National Street Rod Association.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, William and Josie Bensinger and his brother, William D. Bensinger.
Survivors include his children, Christine Norris, Joe Rigney (Sharon), Tracey Sembly (Robert), and Michael Bensinger (Sarah); his life partner, Charmaine Byers and her daughter, Lexie Credille (Fred); his sister, Joyce Hebb (Kenneth); and his grandchildren; Joe Jr., Daulton, Madelynn, and Brent, Gabrielle, Aliyah, Camryn, Gavin, Ayden, Michael, Brandon, Callen, Rosie and Maggie and great grandchildren; Max and Jaxson, DeShawn and Kali.
A Memorial Service will be held at 9 am on Thursday, May 13 at NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis St. Newport, DE 19804 where visitation will begin at 8:30 am. Burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
