Obituary for Marilyn Frances Stoneberger

Marilyn Frances Stoneberger October 5, 1928 to October 30,2020

Marilyn Frances Stoneberger passed away peacefully on October 30. She was 92.

Marilyn was born in her parent's home in Richardson Park, where she lived for nearly 90 years. She grew up there with her 2 sisters. She and her husband raised their family in the same house, where she later served as caregiver to both her aging mother and father. For the last 20 years, she was alone in that house, the last witness to the century of living that went on inside those walls. She and the house took care of each other. It gave them purpose, and strength.

For most of her adult life, Marilyn worked beside her husband in the newspaper distribution business, all hours, all days, all weather, together. It was hard work, but a strong, honest living for both.

While quiet and unassuming most days, she had a surprisingly spontaneous sense of humor. Conversely, she could bring a unexpected fienceness to bear when it came to her home and family.

Marilyn was a wife and a mother first. Some of the best times for her were the years spent at their home-built cottage near a lake in New Jersey. She rejoiced in having her family to herself, just her husband and her girls, cooking, swimming, reading, and listening to the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday nights.

Mummum was a constant in our lives forever. She was always there for us. We will miss her deeply.

She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Lewis, and survived by her two girls, Jayne and Frances, and their husbands and families. Service and burial will be private.
