Obituary for Nancy K. Jaegers
Nancy Jaegers of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Thursday January 19, 2023, surrounded by her family who she loved so dearly. Nancy was born in July of 1944. She was the daughter of the late Edison & Sylvia (Kellems) Longest.
Nancy will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 54 years William A Jaegers Jr, daughter Karen (Joe) Petrucci III, William A Jaegers III, her granddaughter Sarah (Chris) Claycomb, and her great grandchildren, Aiden & Penelope who brought her so much joy. Nancy was also survived by her sister Janis Williams, brother Roger Longest, niece’s Dorian (Jim) Salisbury, Jessica Saunders, and nephew, Jonathan Longest, as well as many other family members who hold a special place for Nancy.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her son Charles Jaegers, her niece Donna Newman and brother-in-law Crow Williams.
Nancy had such a giving spirit, especially when it came to her close ones. The matriarch of the family, Nancy kept everyone together, making family gatherings even more special with her presence.
Christmas was her favorite holiday, where she truly enjoyed the spirit of giving, usually spoiling her family with the perfectly thought-out gift. She loved the cold and cozy weather and enjoyed the snow falling on her deck. She enjoyed gardening and gazing at the flowers on her deck with her dogs at her feet every spring and summer. She also loved watching the birds in her yard and her beloved neighbor Penny's yard.
Nancy and her husband William shared an incredible and adoring bond with one another. They would often say or sign off cards "forever and a day", symbolizing their dedication to one another for a half of century together.
Although Nancy’s presence will be missed in the lives who loved her unconditionally, her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family, the gorgeous flowers in her garden, and the beautiful birds she loved gazing out at.
A celebration of life will be held with the family and the burial will be private with immediate family.
