Obituary for Patricia A Sheppard-Douglas

Patricia Ann Sheppard-Douglas better known as “Patty” was born on June 10, 1961 in Wilmington,De to Lenora Sheppard. She gained her wings on Wednesday February 15, 2023.

Patty attended Wilmington High School and then graduated as a teen mom from DAPI in 1979 with a Culinary Arts Certification. Patty transitioned professions where she worked for several well known reputable dry cleaning companies which included her start of her career at Seymour’s Dry Cleaners of Wilmington. Patty prided herself on being the “Best in Delaware” who was also well known and highly requested within the professional industry.

Patty was an exquisite cook who had a passion for good home cooking while cooking large meals for family gatherings. She had quite the expensive taste and enjoyed fine dining. Her famous baked macaroni and cheese and sweet potato pies were her staples that will be greatly missed. As much as she enjoyed cooking and eating exotic foods you could always catch her watching some of her favorite cooking and crime marathons. Patty was an avid music lover who never left the Funk/Disco Era. Oldies but Goodies were sure to be playing while the fulfilling aromas would fill the house.

She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren as often as she could even if it was via facetime. Patty’s big bright spirit and loud boisterous voice would sure to start the party right.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lenora Sheppard.

Survivors include her husband who she spent the last 40 plus years with, Kenneth Douglas; children, Ebony Andrews-Daye, Kenneth "Lil Doug" Fassett (Shema), Benjamin Sheppard, Lamar Dickerson (Terrell), Kimmy Dickerson, Essence Sheppard, Kendall Sheppard and Kenya Douglas; sisters, Rosalind Thomas (Don Thomas), Barbara Hines (Demetrius) and Valerie Walls; a host of grandchildren; two great grandchildren; her very special and only 2 nieces, Desiree Woodruff (Kevin) and Donisha Thomas; and nephew James Sheppard. Patty will be missed and loved dearly by all who knew her.

Services will be announced at a later date.
